KLS is excited to offer treatments for restoring lost volume in the face after weight loss! As we age, we lose volume in our faces, no matter what weight we are. This becomes more noticeable when paired with general overall weight loss, especially if we have had a significant weight loss.
At Kindness Love and Skin, we pride ourselves in restoring the lost volume and contour to the face. Many look in the mirror and see flat or sunken cheeks, deep lines between the nose and chin, downturned mouth, or a heaviness in the jowl area. Many also lose definition in their chin and jaw. At KLS we specialize in creating a treatment plan to address these issues, helping you rejuvenate your face and confidence.
WHY DOES VOLUME LOSS OCCUR IN THE FACE AFTER WEIGHT LOSS
Volume loss happens with weight reduction and with aging. When these two are combined, it can be more noticeable. Did you know you have different face areas that contain fat? As we age and/or lose weight, it results in laxity/sagging/or hollowness in the face.
WHAT HELPS WITH VOLUME LOSS, AND WHO IS IT FOR
At KLS, we offer hyaluronic acid fillers such as Versa and RHA, as well as Radiesse, which is a biostimulating filler. These fillers are helpful to restore and replace lost fat, collagen and bone deterioration in our face as we age.
HOW WE ARE ACCOMPLISHING IT
The best way to rejuvenate your face with fillers is to consult one of our providers. Upon assessment, your provider can develop a treatment plan with you to achieve your desired results.
This may include fillers such as Versa, Radiesse, or RHA. Other possible treatments may be with a neurotoxin like Xeomin, Botox, or Daxxify. Another great addition to any aesthetic treatment plan is microneedling. As we age, we lose collagen and need stimulating treatments like microneedling to boost collagen. PRP (platelet rich plasma) is also a great way to boost collagen. This can be added to your microneedling and/or injected under the skin to help boost skin strength.
WILL FILLER HELP WITH SKIN LAXITY
Filler will help “fill” the volume loss beneath the skin, resulting in the appearance of less laxity (crepey or sagging skin).
HOW MANY SYRINGES SHOULD I EXPECT TO BUDGET FOR
Simply put, the more volume you lose, the more volume you need to restore. Everyone’s anatomy and treatment plan will be unique to their beautiful face. Most fillers are about 1 ml.
Like any prescription, your provider recommends “ordering” your treatment plan. We Call have a budget, but listening to your provider’s recommendation is important as they are skilled and trained in aesthetics to optimize your outcome. For full-face volume restoration, most clients will need 4-8 syringes of filler. A consultation is required for your specific treatment plan. Consultation and treatment may be done on the same day, provided the appropriate time is allotted for your service. Please let the KLS team know if you are interested in treatment and would like a consultation only to start when booking your appointment.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME BACK FOR TREATMENT
This also varies from person to person. Versa and RHA (hyaluronic acid fillers) generally last 9-12 months, while Radiesse (a bio-stimulating calcium-based filler) lasts 12-18 months.
It is perfectly safe to receive more filler in the same area 2 weeks after receiving filler if
your provider assesses the need for additional correction.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH YOUR SERVICE AT KLS AESTHETICS
Your provider will complete a medical history review and a facial assessment and recommend a treatment plan for you. If your treatment is the same day as your consult, your face will be sanitized, and numbing cream, either topical or injectable, will be used for comfort. Your filters will be placed by a needle or cannula, depending on your provider’s treatment plan.
DOES IT HURT
Most clients do not have much pain with the numbing medications, although you may feel a slight poke or pressure during the procedure.
WILL I BRUISE
There is always a chance of bruising when any needle enters the skin. If bruising occurs,
it can last up to 2 weeks
HOW LONG BEFORE AN EVENT SHOULD I BE SEEN FOR VOLUME LOSS AFTER WEIGHT LOSS TREATMENTS
To ensure optimal results and allow time for any swelling or bruising to subside, it’s recommended to receive fillers at least 4 weeks before a significant event. Every person is different and will have a different treatment plan. For minimal corrections 4 weeks may be ok. For others that may need a more significant correction, it would be recommended to start 3-4 months prior to an event as you may need monthly or bimonthly visits.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR TREATMENT
If you have a hyaluronic acid allergy or severe autoimmune disorders, fillers may not be the best fit for you. You may not be a candidate if you have a history of other medical conditions. Your provider will collect a detailed history. In that case, we recommend PRP using your body’s own plasma for rejuvenation.
PRE AND POST-CARE
These are just a few things to know before your appointment with us. NO alcohol, NO NSAIDS (i.e., OTC ibuprofen/naproxen/aspirin), and NO Oily Vitamins 48 hours before your appointment. These increase the chances of bruising at the injection site. If you are prone to bruising, our providers recommend you start taking oral OTC Arnica per package instructions 72 hours before your appointment.
If you are prone to cold sores, contact your Primary Care to pre-treat with an antiviral. NO dental work within two weeks (before and after) of the procedure and NO going out of town for one week after your appointment. If you are currently on antibiotics, contact us for more information.
Please let us know if you have any questions before booking your appointment. Aftercare will include no heavy exercise or heat exposure for 24 hours and no direct extended sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks. It will take up to 2 weeks for your filler to “settle,” meaning the swelling will subside, and the end result will be final.
