What to Expect at KLS Aesthetics
After discussing your concerns and goals, your provider will review your medical history to ensure VersaTM is suitable for you. The procedure involves photos, proper facial prep, applying a numbing cream and, if needed, a local anesthetic injection for comfort. After allowing the numbing to engage your provider will again cleanse the areas with antiseptic solution. Dependending on the areas being treated, your provider will place the filler with a needle. VersaTM also has lidocaine in the filler which helps to minimize any discomfort. Depending on how many areas you are treating, the appointment usually takes about 45-60 minutes.
Pre and Post Care Instructions
Before your appointment with us, it’s important to note a few things. Avoid alcohol, NSAIDs (such as OTC ibuprofen/naproxen/aspirin), and oily vitamins like fish oil, vitamin D, or E 48 hours prior, as they can increase the chances of bruising at the injection site. If you’re prone to bruising, consider starting oral OTC Arnica per package instructions 72 hours before your appointment. Refrain from any dental work within two weeks (before and after) of the procedure, and avoid going out of town for one week after your appointment. If you’re prone to cold sores, contact your Primary Care provider to pre-treat with an antiviral.
After your treatment, post-care instructions include avoiding kissing, sharing drinks, or touching the treated area with unclean hands for 24 hours. If you’ve had lip filler, avoid vaping, smoking, or using straws for 2 weeks to decrease the chance of moving the filler and creating an uneven appearance. For cheek filler, it’s recommended to avoid sleeping on your side for as long as possible, preferably 2 weeks. You may use over-the-counter pain relievers as needed. If you experience severe pain, pale or blistered skin, or have any other questions, please call KLS immediately.
Timing Your Filler Treatments – When to Start Before Your Big Event
For optimal results before an event, we recommend starting filler treatments at least 8 weeks in advance for a single area or treatment. If you’re addressing multiple areas at different times, consider starting 3 months ahead. Some clients may require additional filler treatments every 2 weeks to achieve their desired outcome. While you’ll see immediate results, the final outcome will be visible after 2 weeks as swelling or bruising may occur initially. Each client is unique, so booking a consultation is essential to create a personalized plan. Touch-ups, especially for lip treatments, can be done closer to an event, but keep in mind that it takes up to 3 weeks for the filler to settle, and bruising may last for up to 2 weeks after placement.
When Should I Start?
VersaTM is FDA-approved for anyone over the age of 18. If you are breastfeeding or pregnant, have a severe autoimmune disease, allergic to hyaluronic acid, have any history of keloid scarring, are receiving chemotherapy or have an current infection you will not be a candidate for any filler. If you are on blood thinners talk to your provider about coordinating with your PCP to see if this treatment can be performed. If you have received fillers in the past and your provider at KLS assesses that more filler is not appropriate for you, other options can be discussed.
Other Recommended Treatments
Depending on your goals, your provider may recommend botox or Xeomin® to reduce muscle movement contributing to wrinkles. They may also suggest treatments to boost collagen, such as microneedling with PRP, chemical peels, or the glass facial.
We offer VersaTM as one of our hyaluronic acid filler options. Your provider may also recommend other fillers like RHA (another hyaluronic acid filler) or Radiesse (a calcium-based filler) based on your individual assessment.
